My mother was a NYC model and the 1954 summer Cover Girl for County Line, a Monmouth New Jersey magazine. As a 1st generation Italian, Mariana Elvira Lucia Siciliano did not have the popular 1950s female look. Doris Day was the all American cover girl face of the times. Mom, however, persisted and used her earnings as a model for clothing designers to pay for college and earn a Master’s Degree in comparative literature with honors. She was the first in her family to earn a degree in higher education. She urged me to pursue journalism, but it took me years in business to finally heed her words and pursue photojournalism. Mothers really do know best! I’m thrilled to announce that I have become a contributor for Edible Silicon Valley magazine. My work is on the cover of Edible’s newly released Holiday Fall 2016 issue. Please read my article about Old World Spirits, a hand-crafted distillery with Croatian roots located in Belmont, California. Edible Silicon Valley celebrates the local, sustainable food sources and community across the Bay Area Peninsula and South Bay. Celebrate with us and give the gift of a subscription to Edible magazine’s quarterly publication. Cheers!
